Forecasts for more snowstorms to hit the Northeast later this week sent crude futures higher, although OPEC said it will keep producing oil at current record levels before considering whether to scale back early next year. A barrel of light crude rose 81 cents to $60.20 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

A survey sponsored by the New Orleans Police Foundation shows many officers are still without permanent housing yet continue to perform their jobs. According to a preliminary copy of the report supplied to CityBusiness, 77.5 percent of officers say their home is not livable.

Bobby Jindal, R-Metairie, today called on the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to immediately begin a comprehensive, forensic study of all the levees used to protect south Louisiana in order to determine the extent of damage and possible construction errors that may have put the entire greater New Orleans area at risk of future flooding.
