At least 155 New Orleans hotels currently closed due to Hurricane Ida

HENDERSONVILLE, Tennessee – In the aftermath of Hurricane Ida, at least 155 New Orleans hotels are temporarily closed due to power outages, staff issues and third-party services such as linen providers being offline, according to the latest data and analyzes STR.

Including all participants in the benchmarking of NOLA data, STR studied the operating condition of 208 hotels representing 35,835 rooms. Of this group, 155 properties (75%) and 28,756 rooms (80%) are currently closed.

Since most closures are due to temporary conditions around the city and not property damage, it is expected that there will be no widespread permanent closures. Most hotels are posting short term reopening dates at this time, but there will be date changes in the weeks and months to come as properties will make decisions based on whether to restore power, the availability of suppliers, personnel and demand.

Of the 155 properties estimated to be currently closed, 41 do not indicate an expected opening date.
