Strutting the Catwalk for a Cause at the Drumossie Hotel in Inverness in aid of Highland Hospice on Saturday February 11

Highland Hospice supporter Alison McRitchie is hosting a very special event in Inverness next year to benefit the charity.

Catwalk for a Cause will take place at the Drumossie Hotel on Saturday February 11, sponsored by MKM Building Supplies.

The event will feature a host of brave individuals whose lives have been affected by cancer, wearing the clothes of models from Highland Hospice’s charity shops on the catwalks and telling their own individual stories.

As special guests, Steve Bland and Lauren Mahon – from the award-winning podcast You, Me and the Big C – will pay tribute to the late Dame Deborah James (aka Bowelbabe).

Alison, who is well known locally as the salon manager of The Head Gardener in Inverness, said: ‘Like so many others, my heart has been touched by Dame Deborah James and her mission to break taboos around breast cancer. ‘intestine. He was an icon who had all the qualities that this event celebrates.

“Lady Deborah was so brave and kind and her story inspired me to do something here in the Highlands. I am delighted to have Steve and Lauren join us for the event.

“As Highland Hospice provided end-of-life care to my father and sister, it is a cause close to my heart.

“All proceeds from this event will be shared between the hospice and a cancer charity chosen by Steve and Lauren.”

Highland Hospice fundraiser Emma Nicol said: ‘We are extremely grateful to have Alison’s support throughout this incredible event. She has raised a phenomenal amount of money for Highland Hospice over the years, while raising awareness in the community about the work we do.

“Her latest event, Highland Hearts of Gold, held in 2020, raised an incredible £78,000, and we know she will make Catwalk for a Cause a huge success.”
