The Seagate, Delray’s OG Boutique Hotel, plans a major expansion • Boca Magazine

Before Delray became Delray, there was the Seagate, South Palm Beach County’s grande dame of boutique hotels with a history dating back to the 1930s. With Anglo-Caribbean-style shutters and balconies, this hotel of 154 rooms benefits from an architectural vintage but all modern amenities: it was first redesigned in the 1950s, then tech-ified in the new millennium. It’s currently about to undergo its next facelift: a huge transformation thanks to three hotel powerhouses: “destination creators” Long Weekend, design firm Studio Robert McKinley, and landscape architect Raymond Jungles.

The renovation, which begins in May and will open in phases from November, made international news, landing in vogueThe annual roundup of the 26 most anticipated hotel openings.

Play now, renovate later: In the meantime, the hotel remains open to the public with all its advantages: A famous country club and golf course designed by Joe Lee; a tennis and fitness center; an 8,000-square-foot spa with resort pool, hot tub, pool bar, tranquility room, and steam room; and Seagate’s longtime coup de grace, the Beach Club. This private campground directly on the beach, accessible to hotel guests via a brisk walk or free valet parking, offers beachside drink service, an ocean-view restaurant, an indoor pool salt water and rental gear from on-site supplier Delray Beach Water Sports.

Eat, drink and be merry: While new dining experiences are in the works for the big reveal later this year, Seagate’s flagship restaurant, the Atlantic Grille, remains open to hotel guests and the general public. Happy hour specials and a fireplace lounge complement a well-stocked coastal menu with freshly caught entrees, grilled octopus and roasted Atlantic salmon with scallops and branzino, with plenty of grass and vegetarian options to please. all the palaces.

Let’s make a deal: Future customers can enter promo code “Elvis” when booking on the Seagate website to receive a special package including 15% off best available room rate, two Seagate beach towels, continental breakfast daily for two at the Atlantic Grille and one – $50 resort credit.
